Our Practicioners

Alexia Bennetts, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac.

Alexia Bennetts's photo

Alexia Bennetts treats her patients at Calm Spirit Acupuncture with gentleness, empathy and professionalism. She listens to her patients and creates treatment plans that will fit their health and wellness needs as individuals. Her goal is to treat not only the symptoms but also the root of the illness to create balance and restore health in each patient. Chinese Medicine recognizes good health includes balancing the mental, spiritual and physical aspects in one's life. This is accomplished using a variety of "tools" including educating the client in diet, lifestyle choices and preventative strategies; acupuncture; herbal remedies; manual massage-like techniques; and instruction in physical movement to restore health.

A licensed acupuncturist in Colorado, Alexia specializes in pain management, women's issues and pediatric treatments. She works cooperatively with other physicians and healthcare providers, to promote patients' balance and health on all levels.

Alexia has a three year degree in Oriental Medicine and a degree in Biology from the University of Colorado and experience from EAS, a sport supplement company. This diverse background gives Alexia a well-rounded foundation in health, nutrition and fitness. In her nine years of practice, Alexia has maintained and advanced her skills and knowledge as a current member of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She continues to take continuing education classes every year to stay up to date and add knowledge on various topics treated by Chinese medicine. She is grateful to her clients for the success of the practice, noting "the main source of referrals is word-of-mouth from our happy and loyal clients".

Alexia has four young boys and she enjoys spending time with a very active, happy, healthy family.

Robin van Maarth L.Ac., Dipl. OM

Robin recognized the benefits of acupuncture close to twenty years ago after being treated for a knee injury. She found that acupuncture created movement and had the quality of encouraging the innate ability of the body to right itself - and not just with injury or pain, but will illnesses as simple as colds to more complex disorders. Ever since her first treatment she was a firm believer in the medicine. While living in New York City, she entered the Touro College of Health Sciences in Manhattan and graduated with a Masters in Oriental Medicine. Her clinical education included rounds at Brooklyn's Lutheran Hospital, treating patients with acupuncture and tui na in the hospital setting. After thirteen years in New York and soon after graduation, she moved back to her home state of Colorado, where she had the good fortune of meeting Alexia and joining Calm Spirit Acupuncture. She plans to learn from and add to the practice that Alexia has built and provide the same level of care and professionalism.

Robin is Colorado State licensed and nationally board certified in Oriental Medicine with the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is also a member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She will be pursuing continuing education in pediatrics, pain management, Hepatitis C treatment, men's and women's reproductive health and herbal therapies. She is happy to be back in Colorado near family and is the proud aunt of a niece and nephew.
